VPN channels

Virtual Private Network VPN (IP Virtual Private Network), is organized using IPVPN or L2VPN, and allow you to combine the offices and customer points of presence into a single protected from unauthorized access network.

VPN solution is best for:

  • Combining of branches geographically dispersed across town or across the country
  • improved network security
  • costs optimization
  • meet the special requirements of data transmission channels (level L2, L3, MTU)
  • Providing of different levels of service (classes of services), which allows you to integrate voice traffic with LANs data and high-quality video transmission.

VPN is based on the high-speed fiber-optic SMARTNET network. Connection is made at speeds up to 1 Gbit/s by Ethernet.

VPN  Advantages

A key feature of virtual private networks is lack of need to use dedicated channels to combine offices and technical centers of the Customer to a single data transmission network. The Customer will receive the following advantages:

Service order

Main advantages

Economy

Lack of the high costs for the organization of dedicated channels

Safety

Customer’s traffic is fully protected against unauthorized access

Efficiency

Rapid increase in port capacity

L2 VPN use

The ability to use a variety of network protocols in corporate networks, which place high demands to personal safety and productivity.

IP VPN (L3 VPN)

VPN layer 3 (VPN/L3) is easier to implement, and carried out interaction at the level of IP- subnets, but it requires organization of the new subnet when moving from office to office.

It is possible not only to connect head office with branches, but also, for example, to organize communication of POS-terminals and ATMs with the host computer

How it works?

The number of switching points in VPN is not limited to. If necessary, any of the points connected in VPN can also be provided with Internet access through the same physical communication channel.

IP VPN (L3 VPN)

SMARTNET performs the formation and maintenance of a virtual private network (VPN) using the IP/MPLS technology, by connecting into a single protected logical network with geographically distributed customer offices. Thus, the data transmission network of the operator for the customer is a totally "transparent" medium.

L2 VPN (Virtual Private Network of second layer)

Virtual Private Network of second layer L2 VPN (VPLS Virtual Private LAN Service) - a method of combining several geographically remote offices into a single high-speed multiprotocol safety network in a scale of the city.

The uniqueness of solutions for the creation of virtual private networks of the second layer L2 VPN (Layer 2 Virtual Private Network, MPLS VPLS VPN, Ethernet VPN) is the ability to use a variety of network protocols in corporate networks, which place high demands on personal safety and productivity. L2 VPN is not tied to specific IP-based networks and works at the Ethernet level. For example, while away from the office, you may freely connect to the corporate network using notebook.

The advantages of using VPLS technology:

  • the ability to use the whole spectrum of communication protocols;
  • high safety level due to the fact that the internal structure of the customer network (even at the IP- subnets level) is available and controlled by the customer only;
  • the ability to pass in network any type of data, including those encrypted on the link layer.

Thus, use of L2 VPN allows you to use fully the existing network infrastructure, as well as the integration of virtual private networks with other SMARTNET services: high speed internet access at speeds up to 100 Mbit/s, new generation high-quality packet telephony (Voice-Over-IP) etc. The solution is important for companies, where employees work associated with traveling and if they need an access to the company local network.
